In October of 2006, I left the cold winds of Nebraska, my family, and my job as a P.A. behind and moved east with my husband and three kids. In January of 2008, The Deputy's Widow was published and my life as a writer became official. Synop: 1948 is drawing to a close and things couldn't be much worse for Private Detective Hamilton Baker. It starts with a simple phone call from Diana Kramer, a smooth tongued woman who begs the detective to find letters she's written to her lover, Sheriff's Deputy Chester "Chet" Ferrebee. Chet is to wed another woman this afternoon and Diana, the scorned mistress, wants the letters back where they belong.with her. Hours after the wedding, when Chet turns up dead in a roadside motel room, his bride beaten beyond recognition and unable to remember anything, Baker fears his client is somehow involved. As he searches for the letters, he unwillingly digs into the past of the sleepy town of Crane Haven and uncovers the dangerous secrets of a group of men who shattered a young girl's mind, as well as her chance for happiness, years ago. http://jbkohl.blogspot.com/ http://www.myspace.com/jbkohl http://www.jbkohl.com/

Stu Silberman discusses the value of public-private partneships in the development of a high performing school system designed to create systemic and long-term academic success in students during an interview with Michael Robinson host of Educational Gateway, which is heard on The Journey Begins, radio for the engaged parent and dedicated educator. Stu Silberman has led two school districts to prominence in the state of Kentucky and has three times been named the state Superintendent of the Year. Most recently, he was among the four finalists for the National Superintendent of the Year Award. Well-known for his mantra “It’s About Kids,” Silberman was hired in 2004 to be the fifth superintendent in three years for the Fayette County Public Schools. Since then, he has been credited with engaging the public, drawing more than 1,300 people to a summit on how to ensure that every student receives a world-class education. He has rebuilt faith with the community, instituting a 24-hour response time rule for phone calls and e-mails and launching dozens of communications initiatives to ensure transparency and openness. Student achievement has skyrocketed, with nearly 40 percent of local schools besting state proficiency standards six years early and a clear focus on closing achievement gaps and holding all students to high expectations. School board meetings, which just five years ago often lasted well past midnight, are now civil and productive with a focus on student achievement strategies. In an unprecedented show of public confidence, a school board vote to raise property taxes to address facility needs received no organized opposition and was affirmed without a voter recall effort. To read more visit Fayette County Public Schools.

Tonight on AC Live we go back to the drawing board. We will build with Honorable Sam Greenlee on the duality and paradoxical state of existence of Moors (misnomered Blacks, African Americans etc...)"in" the U.S.A. and we will listen as he directs us how to piece the cumulative Blue Prints of our ancestors together. Elder Greenlee knows first hand what it was like for our people to be self sufficient and he warns us to end our obsession with other folks and protect ourselves. His literary masterpieces like "The Spook who sat by the Door" allow us to investigate who we are and where we need to be going. Tune in in and break bread with us. We also will dialogue with Hawthorne James about his recent Directorial Debut of the Stick Up Kids. The knowledge in that movie was very important and vital at this time so in that spirit we will be (in the words of Sam Greenlee) Kicking Ass on with hand and Building with one other.

Scott’s first guest Tuesday night is Dr. Alan Beck, author of the new book A Faithful Proposal. Most Americans are feeling frustrated by the daily barrage of rhetoric inflicted upon them about healthcare, corporate greed and religion. This fact, combined with his own feelings of dissatisfaction with government, became the inspiration for Alan Beck, a doctor, to write a totally over-the-top satirical novel written in the tradition of such greats as Carl Hiaasen, Christopher Moore and Jonathon Swift. Then Scott is joined by John Badalament, Ed.M., and author of the new book, The Modern Dad’s Dilemma: How to Stay Connected With YOur Kids in A Rapidly Changing World. More is expected of dads today than ever before. Drawing on his experience working with thousands of dads and families, John Badalament delivers a hands-on approach to meeting the everyday challenges of modern fatherhood. Told through the stories of a diverse group of fifteen real dads who have attended John Badalament’s pioneering workshops, The Modern Dad’s Dilemma is filled with practical information, road-tested activities, and key skills dads can put to use right away. Learn to: • Balance family time with work demands • Build open communication with your kids, no matter how old they are • Model a healthy relationship with your children’s mother • Sort through your own father’s legacy

Join Dave and Bill as they interview Sean Buvala the Daddy Teller, live today... on The CyberHood Watch! K. Sean Buvala is a Trainer, Corporate Coach, and Speaker. But first and foremost, he’s a Storyteller. If you’re anything like me, this word evokes images of rapt little faces gathered round the yarn-spinner, mouths agape, hanging on every word. It should. Storytelling is an art that appeals to the deep emotional memory in all of us. Unlike motivational speaking, which seeks to uplift the listener and spur to him action, storytelling strengthens our powers of creativity and problem solving by drawing on our own imaginations. In short, storytelling conveys information in a way the listener will never forget. In 2007 Sean Buvala was presented the Oracle Award by the National Storytelling Network for his work in the promotion of storytelling, including the development of Storyteller.net, an online goldmine of resources for storytellers and their audiences alike. His work as a trainer and coach in the corporate word demonstrates his ability as a master storyteller. On the premise that good leadership requires strong communication skills, good storytelling techniques and the ability to convey information with impact, Sean designs workshops and seminars specifically for corporate groups, where he trains leaders to lead more effectively by improving their storytelling abilities. Here, he teaches real skills—not theory—that corporate management can implement immediately. In executive-level workshops that identify what already works for the company and what needs fixing, participants are shocked to see dramatic improvement in their public-speaking and leadership abilities. Celebrating Black History Month Recognizing African Art title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/we3OnogZoWg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>> Friends, to day on the broadcast I am drawing your attention to the races in an effort to show how things got the way they are. When listening to the lesson "Black People from A Biblical Perspective" I want you to understand that one act of integrity set the tone for the races through Shem, Ham, and Jetha. Many of you already know the story about Noah being found in a drunken state by Shem and Jetha, but the essences of the story is found in how they dealt with their father...the choices that they each made caused the blessing to abound upon those races for a perpetual generation. Not say that God is blessing sin; I am saying, "God is blessing his promises." Ham chose to go out and noise abroad all that he seen concerning his father! Have you ever heard that saying, "what goes on in this house stays in this house!" Well, Ham's big mouth got his grand kids locked out for generations and generations (more on that later). One act of faithfulness can set the ball in motion for blessing the next generation.

Interview with Lee Edward Fodi Topics of conversation: Progression of the series, Kendra Kandlestars evolution, and her battle in Book 3. Fodis passion for writing, illustrating and teaching children. How one original drawing became an award-winning book series. Importance of encouraging writing in children, bringing balance back to schools in terms of the creative arts. The very popular Dream Workshop that is being taught in Canada, US, England and Korea. Lee Edward Fodi has been writing and illustrating stories about magic, monsters, and mystery for as long as he can remember. Growing up on a farm, he was subjected to various horrible chores such as cleaning chicken coops, picking cucumbers, and raking gravel. This is probably why he wrote Kendra Kandlestar and the Shard from Greeve, a story that attempts to instruct children in the dangers associated with wicked items such as eggs, pickles, and rocks. When he is not chronicling the land between here and there, Mr. Wiz (as he is so often called) spends his time speaking at schools or helping kids sculpt their own stories through writing workshops. He now lives in Vancouver, Canada, where he takes great care in avoiding items of dark magic.
